IBEW Local 1837 Launches Union Pride Campaign

Show Your Union Pride with this IBEW Local 1837 Commemorative Pin

June 8, 2009 - Unions have a proud history in the United States and throughout the free world. In this country, the trade union movement has been instrumental in bringing workers benefits such as paid holidays, two-day weekends, a minimum wage and the eight-hour day. Our unions also protect workers’ rights through the just cause provision in our contracts.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers began in the late 19th century as a group of 10 lineworkers joining together in St. Louis and has grown into a union of more than 700,000 members in utility, construction, broadcasting and other industries. IBEW Local Union 1837 is launching a Union Pride Campaign to remind all of us – approximately 1,650 members at 13 represented companies – that we share a proud history as members of the labor movement.

We hope you enjoy this 1-inch diameter union-made IBEW Local 1837 pin and wear it in good health. And whether you choose to wear it to work every once in a while, once a week or every day – you’ll wear it knowing that union members share a proud past and we can also share a proud future, working together as one. Members can pick up a commemorative pin at their local unit meetings this summer and fall, while supplies last.
