IBEW Local 1837 represents 46 members working at the generating station in Newington, New Hampshire, owned by Granite Shore Power. This fossil fuel-fired power plant was acquired in 2018 from Eversource Energy, as part of a legislatively mandated divestiture agreement that restructured electric generation ownership in the state.

The Newington station continues to serve as an important source of dispatchable electricity, providing critical support to the regional power system managed by ISO New England and helping maintain grid reliability during periods of high demand.

IBEW Local 1837 will continue to support workers at Granite Shore Power through an agreement that new Granite Shore Power facilities will be IBEW represented. Our union worked hard during the state mandated deregulation of the electrical industry to preserve the wages and benefits of all affected employees.

IBEW Local 1837 members at Granite Shore Power perform essential operations and maintenance functions, ensuring that generation equipment is maintained safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and reliability standards. Their skill and experience play a key role in supporting New Hampshire’s energy infrastructure and the broader New England electric grid.
