Approximately 100 members of IBEW Local 1837 are employed by the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC), a member-owned and member-controlled distributor of electricity serving communities across a board geographic area of New Hampshire. As a cooperative utility, NHEC is governed by and accountable to the members served.
IBEW Local 1837 represents a diverse group of employees at the Co-op, including District Representatives, Working Foremen, Line Workers, Operations Coordinators, Line Design Technicians, Auto Mechanics, System Electricians, Meter Technicians, Warehouse Workers, and other technical professionals. Together, these skilled members build, maintain, and support the electric distribution system that delivers safe and reliable power to homes and businesses throughout the state.
Whether responding to outages, designing system upgrades, maintaining fleet and equipment, or supporting day-to-day operations, IBEW Local 1837 members at NHEC play a critical role in ensuring dependable electric service for cooperative members. Through collective bargaining, the union works to protect fair wages, strong benefits, and safe working conditions while supporting the long-term reliability of New Hampshire’s electric infrastructure.
