The bargaining unit at the Granite Ridge Energy facility voted to join IBEW Local 1837 on August 4, 2006, marking an important step in securing strong representation for employees at the plant. At that time, Granite Ridge Energy was operated by North American Energy Services (NAES). Located in Londonderry, New Hampshire, Granite Ridge Energy is a natural gas-fired power plant that plays a key role in regional electric generation.
Since voting to join IBEW Local 1837, Granite Ridge Energy has gone through multiple management and ownership changes. After NAES, management passed to the Calpine Corporation and now lies with Constellation Energy. Through all the changes to management, members at Granite Ridge Energy could always count on representation with IBEW Local 1837.
Following the successful union vote, IBEW Local 1837 negotiated a first contract with NAES, establishing wages, benefits, and working conditions that reflect the skill and responsibility required to operate and maintain a modern generating station.
IBEW Local 1837 proudly represents all maintenance and operations personnel at Granite Ridge Energy. These members ensure the safe, reliable performance of critical generation equipment, supporting grid stability and energy reliability throughout the region.
Granite Ridge Energy members are part of Unit 2’s territory and participate in Unit 2 meetings and activities.
